Wedding & Pre-Marital FAQ'sWhat happens at the premarital interview? The bride and groom will meet with a member of the Adoration ministerial staff to discuss wedding plans and details of the questionnaires. An overview of the counseling program is discussed. Specific requirements to be married by an Adoration pastor are also discussed.

Following the interview, the couple will be asked to complete an Inventory and Personality Test. These tests help to alert the premarital counselors to areas that need specific attention. They also help to identify areas of strength in the relationship. The premarital counseling experience is uniquely designed to meet the needs of each couple.
What are the requirements to be married by an Adoration pastor? All couples must complete our premarital counseling program which takes six to ten sessions. In addition, Adoration Church has determined the following qualifications, based on Biblical truths:

1) Bride and groom must be spiritually compatible. Adoration Church will not join an unbeliever to a believer in marriage (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). God's Word is clear about spiritual compatibility between marriage partners.

2) Bride and groom must abstain from physical intimacy or living together. Sex is a gift from God. He is the one who created it! Therefore, we must follow God's directions alone regarding our sexuality. The Bible gives us clear instructions for sex within the parameters of the marriage relationship (2 Corinthians 6:3) God's Word also gives us clear warnings and consequences when sex is used outside of the marriage.

While many of those who come to Adoration Church are honoring God through abstaining from sexual intimacy, there are many that do not fall into this category. Couples who are physically intimate or are living together are asked to move apart and covenant with Adoration Church to abstain from their sexual relationship until their wedding day. We would like the opportunity to encourage you to make this commitment with us, understanding that this is God's best for your marriage relationship.
Read the Premarital Covenant.

What is the cost of the Adoration Church premarital counseling program? The cost for those that attend Adoration Church is $30. The cost to those that do not attend Adoration is $130. This cost covers counseling materials, and for the administration and scoring of the national, standardized PREPARE report. What do we talk about at the counseling sessions? You will discuss many subjects throughout your time together. These subjects include marital roles and responsibilities; skills for communicating and resolving conflicts; realistic management of finances; your sexual relationship; your family of origin; and much more! Your relationship strengths will be discussed, as well as areas that need growth. Although the program is designed to cover certain topics, your counselors will design your time together to fit your individual needs. Details of the sessions are discussed during your premarital interview. Homework assignments are given prior to each session to enhance your understanding (and promote discussion) of the material. Remarriages:It is also strongly recommended that those involved in remarriages attend a divorce recovery program prior to entering into a new marriage. Click here to to get information on Divorce Care meetings at Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville. What should I expect from the premarital counseling experience? You should expect to be challenged, strengthened, educated, and better prepared for your upcoming marriage. You will probably experience some laughs, some tears, and some pleasant surprises! You should leave your premarital counseling with some problem areas identified, some new marital skills learned, and most importantly - a more realistic expectation of what marriage will be like! May God richly bless you individually, and as a couple, as you embark on this exciting journey together!

"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate." - Mark 10:7-9 (NIV)

Your Decision To Marry Is A CommitmentWe welcome the opportunity to invest in this commitment and your upcoming marriage. Our premarital counseling is available if you attend Adoration Church or not. As a new church in the community meeting in an elementary school on Sunday's, we do not have our own facility to hold a wedding ceremony. However, if you would like an Adoration minister to officiate at your wedding ceremony, completion of our premarital counseling program is required.

To begin the process, please complete both the Bride and Groom Questionnaires.

Social Services:
Sometimes our circumstances can be overwhelming, and we're unsure where to turn. Here is a brief list of government, community and faith-based organizations that may be of help when life gets hard. Our hope is through partnering with multiple agencies that you will be able to connect with the best resources. Sometimes there is a blend of organizations that can help, whereas one organization is unable to provide comprehensive assistance. Please let us know if there are other ways that we can help.

Kathy and I would love to have you check out our life group on Wednesday evenings at our home in Burnsville. Our hope is that we will practice Christ’s command to love one an another. We hope to put this into practice through a study of God as revealed in His Word, pray for each other, engage in a service project and enjoy food and fellowship from time to time. Our first meeting or two might be invested to learn what study of God’s Word might benefit the members of the Life Group most. The book of Genesis is an exciting possibility as it all “starts there”. This book outlines creation, the fall, the flood, confounded languages, and the promise of God’s covenant to us through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Many of these have a profound impact on where we stand with evolution as well as our support of the Jews. We may also consider topical studies of the Word dealing with forgiveness, money or humility. We would love to have you join us but most of all we pray that you connect with one of the Life Groups.

Adoration and our sister church, The Journey North in Brainerd, have both entering into a two-year partnership with Epiphany Station as of June 2008. By combining Adoration and The Journey North's resources, we will be enabling Epiphany Station to more effectively reach Thief River Falls for Jesus Christ.

Adoration's parent churches (Berean and Grace Fellowship) instilled in our DNA a passion and mechanism for planting new churches. Adoration has faithfully set aside 5% of our weekly Sunday morning offerings for planting new churches. This is money that we either use for planting new churches or we lose it, and Grace will plant a church with those funds. So we decided to use it rather than lose it!

A small group of people had a vision to reach out to their community for Christ. They gathered together Sunday evenings for Bible study and worship. By faith, they pooled their money together, and bought an old gas station downtown Thief River Falls. By faith they called their first Pastor, Jeff Gauss. An amazing story is unfolding near the Canadian border. Read more about Epiphany Station...

Here are some great questions to help you be set free and be blessed as you read and apply the Bible in your own life:

S - Is there a Sin to Confess?

P - Is there a Promise to Claim?

A - Is there an Attitude to Change?

C - Is there a Command to Obey?

E - Is there an Example to Follow?

P - Is there a Prayer to Pray?

E - Is there an Error to Avoid?

T - Is there a Truth to Believe?

S - Is there Something to Thank God for?

If you are looking to purchase a Bible here are some general guidelines for you:

1. Are you new to the Bible? Get an NLT Bible (New Living Translation). Easy to read.

2. Like to read and occasionally study the Bible? Get an NIV (New International Version). Easy to read, and study from.

3. Are you a serious student of the Bible and want to get more in depth. Consider the ESV (English Standard Version), it is a word-for-word translation, so it isn't as easy to read, but much better suited for study.

Worship:This time is set aside for communicating with God from our hearts. Our worship team will lead us in upbeat, contemporary songs of celebration, as well as more intimate songs of worship. Many of the songs may be familiar to you if you listen to local Christian radio like The Refuge or KTIS. Everyone worships in his or her own unique way - for many, that means raising hands, singing and clapping along, and for others it means quietly reflecting on the words.

What can I expect when I visit? We meet Sunday's from 10:00 to 11:15am at Glendale Elementary.

It's a great partnership! Adoration needs a place to meet, and the school district needs the additional rental revenue. We won't be at Glendale forever, but it is a great place to start a new church!

LIFE groups are a place where you can make new friends; a place to discover how to apply the Bible in your life; a place to be real and honest; a place where personal spiritual transformation, authentic community and loving service are ignited. Something happens in a small group that doesn't happen in the big group!

Hi, I am one of the "newbees" to Adoration, and although I have known about Adoration for some time (I was introduced to Pastor Dan and Kelly), I've never before visited or thought about attending; now I am hooked! I grew up near a small town in NW Iowa where my dad was a farmer. Since high school graduation, I've worked in many areas - corporate, legal, medical, and most recently in ministry at a mega church and at a camp. I am semi-retired and since November have worked part-time at Northwestern Book Store in Burnsville. FamilyI have five siblings, two older and three younger, and we have always had lots of fun together. I am a first-generation Christian and the highlight of my life was leading my dad to the Lord the morning before he passed away. I am praying the rest of the family will come to know Him as their Lord and Savior as well. I have two grown sons, two daughters-in-love, and 8 grandchildren. My oldest son, his wife and I sold our separate homes a couple years ago and bought a house in Rosemount where I have the lower level. What a treat!! My youngest son and his family live in Red Oak, IA where he is a pastor. Both boys, their wives, and five of the eight grandchildren know the Lord as their personal Savior, so we are blessed! Education I attended a business school in Mankato, MN after high school graduation but never did much more with my education other than training classes here and there. I did take a correspondence course through the American Association of Christian Counselors several years ago. In 2004 I started attending the adult program through Crown College in St. Bonifacius and finished up with my AA degree except for one hour of physical education. Odd, because I love all types of sports and lettered in basketball and softball in high school (I still enjoy being a spectator - especially basketball and football). Maybe some day I'll be able to get that one hour out of the way and officially have my AA. I am also very close to having a double AA - the second being in psychology. PlacesSince leaving the farm after graduation, I have lived in Minnesota, Missouri, Minnesota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Oregon, Minnesota, Tennessee and Minnesota. Guess there is something about Minnesota that keeps drawing me back - you think? I have been in all of the states West of the Mississippi (except for Alaska and Hawaii) and many of the more southern states East of the Mississippi. I would love to visit the New England States and all the historical places some day. I have been on four mission trips: Israel - I lived in a nurses dorm in Peta Tikva Israel for five and a half months and was able to tour most of the country during that time. I worked as a painter at a hospital and also in the pagim (preemies) areas. The Desert Storm war had started shortly before I left. Germany/Poland - In Germany/Poland we handed out Bibles to the Russian soldiers and to the Polish school children. We managed to get onto one of the highest security areas of the Russian army and hand out Bibles to the soldiers before we were kicked out.Philippines - In the Philippines we ran a week-long family camp for street people from Manila.Kenya, Africa - And, in Kenya we visited missionaries the church I was attending supported.InterestsI like to read all types of good books, do jigsaw, Saduko, and crossword puzzles, and I like to watch sports on TV - mostly football - go Vikings! I also enjoy crafts and scrapbooking although those have been on the back burner for a while. FavoritesSpending time with my grandchildren - playing games, reading, watching Veggie Tales. LikesCHOCOLATE! Is there anything else? I especially like milk chocolate. DislikesWalnuts are an allergy problem so one of my greatest dislikes, otherwise, I can't think of any extreme dislikes except for sauerkraut, Spam, and gefilte fish.
